Boho Baby: 5 New Mum Must-Haves
It's been a whirlwind first few weeks getting settled in with our new baby Ziggy, but we are loving every second!
It can be overwhelming as first time parents trying to decide which items are worth buying and which are better left on the shelf. With so many different suggestions in various articles, from our friends with kids and added advice from family members, it's difficult to narrow down the needs versus wants when it comes to prepping for your first child.
Luckily, we've now had a little time to see what works for us (which may very well be different from what works for you), and are sharing our top 5 must-haves for all you gorgeous boho mums and parents out there!

Top 5 New Mum Must-Haves
#1 MyBaby SoundSpa Lullaby - HoMedics
If you value sleep (and who doesn't?), we highly suggest the MyBaby SoundSpa Lullaby from HoMedics. With 3 natural sounds - heartbeat, gentle rain and ocean waves - along with 3 built-in lullabies - Twinkle Twinkle, Rock-a-Bye Baby, and Brahm's Cradle Song - we've found that playing the ocean noise for Ziggy all night really calms him and helps him relax.
There are also 3 built-in projector discs that display images on the ceiling or wall, perfect for giving babies something to look at when they're fussy or sleepy. Another feature includes auto-off timers in 15, 30, 45 and 60 minute increments, and because it's compact and lightweight, it's perfect for packing in my nappy bag if we are going to visit with friends and family.
#2 Digital Sound & Movement Monitor - Angelcare
This Digital Sound & Movement Monitor is our favourite product for added peace of mind when Ziggy is sleeping.
Designed with an under-the-mattress sensor pad, an alarm will go off if the baby stops breathing for any reason, which automatically converts to battery power in case of power failure. There's also a nursery room temperature display on our parents digital unit, as well as a nursery night light, vibration alerts, sound lights and more.
#3 Muslin Baby Wraps - Two Tykes
Designed here in Australia, Two Tykes has released a line of stunning Baby Wraps made from 100% GOTS certified organic muslin cotton and non-toxic dyes.
We love their focus on ethically-made kid's wear and adore the colourful, bohemian-inspired prints of their muslin wraps, onesies and bibs. They fit Ziggy really well and are so soft. We can't wait until he can fit into their range of stylish boys clothes as well!
#4 Cloth Nappies
It is absolutely astounding how many nappies we go through. "That's surprising," said no parent ever!
You can find cloth nappies in many places, but some of our favourite brands are Bambooty, Cushie Tushies and Hippybottomus. Though some parents are hesitant to use cloth nappies, we love the benefits, which include:
- Eco-friendly
- More coverage & less clean-up
- Less cost over time when compared to single use, throwaway nappies
- Protects sensitive skin
#5 Bath Products - GAIA Skin Naturals
Bath time is usually my favourite time of the day, and that definitely has something to do with GAIA's line of natural baby products. Their items smell delicious, and are as great on Ziggy's skin as they are on mine.
Designed for sensitive baby skin, we love their Bath & Body Wash, Sleeptime Bath, Shampoo and Conditioning Detangler.
Big thanks to everyone for reading, and don't forget we still have a few of our Limited Edition, handmade Zumbu Baby Bags left for grabs!
